Introduction

The aim of this colloquium is to discuss the methodology of Islah. Etymologically, Islah refers to concepts like reform, revival, and improvement. A well-defined methodology is a prerequisite for any reform to take place, it is essential to have.

What is Our Goal?

The goal of reform cannot be accomplished without appropriate criteria, standards, and regulations. It is important to note that reform and revival are not limited to the state of Kerala or the Muslim community alone; they have global relevance. Therefore, various knowledge systems have been employed worldwide to achieve this objective. The methodology of Islah merits a detailed analysis so as to gain insight into how Islam integrates with and interacts within these knowledge systems. It is worth noting that the principles and regulations of these systems differ from the methodology of Islah, necessitating separate studies.
